In the case of registration of a Company or LLP with a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) as a director, shareholder, or partner, the following documents are required.

NRI Requirements

1 Valid passport (KYC) Clear and complete copy showing the photograph, date of birth, passport number, issue details, and expiry date. Attested by the Indian Embassy / Consulate in the country where the NRI is residing.
2 Overseas residential address proof Recent power bill, phone bill, or bank statement, not older than 2 months. Attested by the Indian Embassy / Consulate in the country where the NRI is residing.
3 PAN card Required for Indian tax and identification purposes, where applicable. A self-attested copy is generally used.
4 Email ID Active personal email ID of the NRI. Not applicable.
5 Mobile number Active mobile number of the NRI. Not applicable.
6 Passport-size photograph Recent photograph of the NRI. Not applicable.
7 Last page of Memorandum of Association (MOA) Applicable only for Company Registration. The last page must be signed by the NRI subscriber. Attested by the Indian Embassy / Consulate in the country where the NRI is residing.
8 Last page of Articles of Association (AOA) Applicable only for Company Registration. The last page must be signed by the NRI subscriber. Attested by the Indian Embassy / Consulate in the country where the NRI is residing.
9 Subscriber Sheet Applicable only for LLP Registration. The subscriber sheet must be signed by the NRI partner / subscriber. Attested by the Indian Embassy / Consulate in the country where the NRI is residing.
10 Declaration / Form 9 The declaration is applicable for Company Registration, and Form 9 is applicable for LLP Registration. Attested by the Indian Embassy / Consulate in the country where the NRI is residing.

For NRI promoters, the attestation requirement arises from the Companies (Incorporation) Rules, read with MCA FAQs and professional guidance, which require proper notarisation / attestation of documents executed outside India.
